ABCFT SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION RESULTS
On November 7th, the ABC Community held elections for two of the seven trustee areas for the ABC School Board. There are seven school board members and they each serve a term of four years once elected. The ABCFT endorsed candidate in Trustee Area 6, Olga Rios won the election with 61% of the votes. Olga Rios will be the first ABC School Board Trustee for Area 6 which encompases the Lakewood ABC families. Ernie Neishii was the winner of the highly contested Trustee area 3 seat. ABCFT endorsed and long time ABC supporter Armen Reyes ran for the Trustee Area 3 seat. Armin campaigned hard but did not win the seat; however, the incumbent, Lynda Johnson, who has been a major source of community disappointment and controversy was not reelected for a third term. This election is significant because ABC now has a full representative board of seven trustees representing their own trustee areas as well as the entire ABC School District. The next ABC School Board election will be in 2020. ABCFT teachers and nurses look forward to working the new board members Olga Rios and Ernie Neishii. Congratulations to all involved for getting involved in our democratic process.
