ABCFT - Week in Review Special Edition

Earlier this week this message went out to ABC Teachers:

Dear Members,

An American tragedy is unfolding in the United States Public Schools as we all hear the heartbreaking details of the worst school shooting in American history. This is the eighth school shooting in the short forty-five days of 2018. America is on pace to have more school shooting deaths in one year than the last ten years put combined.

Once again, children have become victims of senseless gun violence, but the real tragedy is the destruction of belief that places of education are a sanctuary from the violence in our streets and neighborhoods. Our students and their teachers no longer can say that they feel safe in our nations educational institutions. Regardless of your stance on gun control, the continued attack on innocent children is not acceptable. Something MUST CHANGE!

This Friday ABCFT sent out the following message:

When Will This End?

Join us in solidarity on
Tuesday, February 20th
by wearing black to take a moment to recognize the students and teachers that have lost their lives to school violence.

ABCFT leadership and teachers will speak to the School Board about increasing mental health services for ABC students and teachers.  Educators agree, one way to avoid the symptom of violence is to be proactive about the mental health services and support for our students and teachers.
